Knowing your rights is the first step towards being able to defend them. Our Human Rights Education programme brings the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration to schools, secondary schools and communities across Madrid, with our own teaching materials, participatory workshops and awareness campaigns that turn a 1948 text into something alive and relevant for children, young people and adults.
We work with specially trained educators and a simple method: real-life examples, clear language and participation. Every year, thousands of students discover in our sessions that human rights are not an abstraction, but concrete tools for living together better, demanding justice and respecting those who think differently.
The programme is backed by our Special Consultative Status with the United Nations ECOSOC, which allows us to bring the voice of Spanish civil society to international debates and bring back best practices in global citizenship education.
